We toured the Lake Yellowstone region. There are snow peaks all around the lake with islands studding the water body.

On the way from the Canyon Village to the Lake Village, we had a close shave with these bison. They got mad at two youths and chased them. The guys got into a jeep and sped away. These bison got irritated and started measuring us. They aligned them on our lane and started marching straight towards our car. When they were about a foot from our car, the left one changed course and grazed past our car. The right one followed. All this time we were holding our breath and I had my hands on the steering, though I did not know where to escape.

From Lake Yellowstone we went to the eastern entrance of the park. On the way we saw a mom Grizzly with her two cubs climbing up on the road in front of us. As I came out of the car, the mom and her cubs started climbing up the hill. Then we saw them disappearing on the other side of the hill. And then they came back on the road. The mom with her cubs were with us for about twenty minutes as we drove next to them. During this time we drove next to them often a hand shaking distance away. They were trapped between a steep up slope and a steep down slope. So they were walking along the road all this time.

I would like to acknowledge the National Park Service as the source of the maps presented in the web site. We are very thankful to the National Park service and its rangers for doing such a great job in preserving the treasure chests of nature and helping us around in our quest to get familiar and enjoy these wonders.
